Tips on How to Get Your Banned Adsense Account Reinstated

Yesterday, we had reported that the ad serving on this domain has been disabled, and the reason behind this was a post where the images were unacceptable against the terms of adsense. We were mailed to remove that, and we did it but the automated team didn’t recognize the change and so it had disabled the ad serving to just this domain, but the entire account was not disabled. It was a matter of a day for us to get things resolved, as I contacted the Google Adsense team directly, and reinstated the ad serving, but not everyone can do the same. Many experience the adsense account ban without any notice, and they wonder what might be the reason.

What exactly happened to our account yesterday?

As I had updated yesterday, it was not our adsense account which got disabled, but it was just this domain amitbhawani.com which got removed, because according to the Adsense team a few images in a blog post were overlapping and were to be removed. We were given 5 days time to do this, and we removed those images within the given time, but the Automated system of Google could not recognize this (probably some cache issue), and it automatically stopped serving the ads. We then contacted the Adsense team explaining the things, and they started serving the ads again.
Here are the reasons why one’s adsense account can be disabled -
  • Publisher clicks on his own ads – Adsense team keeps a record of the IP addresses through which the publishers logged into their adsense account. It would flag the adsense team if there are any clicks recorded on the publisher’s sites through any of the same IP addresses. This is considered as invalid click, and is one of the most common reasons for the disabling of the adsense account.
  • Publisher encouraging others to click on the ads – If at all you are noticed asking others to click on your ads, to put a cover on the above reason, this is still a wrong way to get clicks and so you are disabled due to this reason too.
  • Automated clicks – There are many tools and software’s to get automated clicks on the ads. Adsense team is smart enough to discover this and you are banned, if found using one.
  • Changes in the codes – Some publishers think they are good enough to change the code and the way the ads should look by default, expecting more clicks on the beautified ads. But that doesn’t work in the way you want. Change the code, and Google will change the status of your account.
  • Risking the adwords advertisers – This is what Google Adsense team sends to the publisher, when the reason is the risk to adwords advertisers – While going through our records recently, we found that your AdSense account has posed a significant risk to our AdWords advertisers. Since keeping your account in our publisher network may financially damage our advertisers in the future, we’ve decided to disable your account.
  • Multiple clicks from a single IP – If your accounts records a multiple number of clicks from a single IP address, that though not being your fault, would lead to disabling of your account.
  • Clicks from poor quality websites – If you are a part of Paid to Surf etc. type of programs, to bring in more visitor counts, then clicks from there would be counted as invalid, and a few clicks can lead to disabling of your account.
  • No response to changes demanded by adsense team – Many a times, the Adsense team sends the publishers some notice about the changes they need to make in their website so that the policy is maintained and you are not breaking any rules. But if you didn’t respond to it, or failed to make those changes, the account gets disabled.
You can’t rely on Google to check everything and let you know about each and every error you make. For you being a publisher, Google is your customer and so it holds the right to decide the status of your account, to satisfy it’s advertisers. So you just need to take care of things such that it doesn’t alarm the adsense team.
Now once your account is disabled, you can’t expect anything else than just a hope of being reconsidered and the account to be reinstated. Here are a few steps that can help you recover your account, but that is not guaranteed, as not everyone has been banned for same reason.
As the medical side speaks, Treating the Symptoms is the initial way to get cured. You need to find out what was the exact reason for the disabling of the account. For results like multiple clicks and the clicking of ads from the same IP address where you login to adsense, there is the least hope of being reconsidered. For such invalid acts, your pleading or acting innocent doesn’t work. You made a mistake, which is irreversible.
First, read the entire terms and agreement page of Adsense again, to see if you are following everything right. If there is something you went against, and noticed that, then immediately change that before requesting Google to restore the account. This is because, it is not a bot checking your site but a human would review your website to see if you can get your account back and if you are following all the guidelines well.
Seek help from the Adsense forum – The top contributors at the Adsense forum are usually helpful, and if you are good enough and polite to ask them if they can check your website and let you know where you are going wrong. They criticize you most of the times, but that is what would help you in the end.
Ask for reconsideration – Here is where you need to be sure that you have removed all the faults that led to the suspension of the account, and if everything is fine now, go here and ask for the reconsideration of the account. If at all you are innocent and are not responsible for any click fraud, provide the Adsense team the logs of traffic, and prove them that the clicks were not by you.
Most of the publishers try 2-3 times with all the strong reasons in their favor, but if one still doesn’t get their adsense account back, it is not worth trying more than that.
The last step would be opening a new account, but with the following things -
  • A new bank account, with the name not being the same with the one you used in your previous adsense account. The best idea here is to make an account with the name of your company, not a personal name.
  • Open a Google adsense account with a new email address, having a name of your business and a new address.
  • Try to change the IP of your website, by shifting to another host and initially, avoid trying to register using the same website which had led to disabling of your adsense account previously.
If you skip any one step above, the approval would not be easy as the Google bots can easily identify the new registration being from someone who was banned previously, and the application is rejected.
